Rosita is a honey-colored ale, that delivers elegance with a certain density in the glass, ivory tones with white foam, creamy and consistent with a wholesome persistence. We recommend tasting it cold, not frozen (42 to 46ºF) in order to envelop its aromatic presence. Ones olfactory will detect fruit such as banana and red apple notes along with molasses which is very subtle but also very complex. The palate is sweet at first but then one notices the passing of its entire volume and aromatic taste that provides a dense and satisfying step. Besides the fruit and honey, there are also notes of toasted grain. Its reasonable acidity lightens ones palate which leads to a surprising complexity. The aftertaste is elegant, with a fine bitterness. There is a very subtle balsamic note which leaves a clean and fresh finish without any heaviness.

Rosita, ¿History or Legend?

On Calle del Hospital “Hospital Street” in Tarragona Spain, Jaume Comte managed a small detergent plant called “Jabones y Lejia la Gardenia” (La Gardenia Soaps and Bleach).

In the town lived a young seamstress named Nuria “The young girl with a ponytail “. Despite their social class differences and his family’s disapproval, Jaume began seeing Nuria. The couple fell madly in love and wed, promising each other eternal love! From that moment, Jaume’s family made life difficult for the couple.

Jaume’s business had begun to struggle and with no help from his family, eventually, it fell into bankruptcy. Nuria returned to sewing but struggled because her reputation had suffered due to the neglect from Jaume’s family. Jaume also struggled in finding work, and by this time his family had disowned him. In the face of this adversity, on April 23rd the couple’s Daughter was born! At birth Rosita barely cried, she had inherited her father’s strong personality and her mother’s freshness.

The day of Rosita’s Baptism, a relative and well know literary in Tarragona, Domenech Guanse Salesas, encouraged the family to turn adversity into opportunity. He suggested they move to Cuba and start a new life. Although the family found some success in Cuba, their hearts were in Tarragona. Rosita and her family returned to Tarragona. Rosita began to mature, with brown hair, nut-brown almond shaped eyes and full lips, she was strong willed and beautiful. With his experiences in Cuba and determination to provide for his family, Jaume began brewing beer. With that Rosita de Tarragona was born! A stylish yet simplel beer determined to establish itself as a premier Spanish Ale.

The cook ground grain malta

Delaboracionrosita.jpgThe process begins with grinding the grain of barley malt for later cooking water at various temperatures between 40ºC and 78ºC for a very specific times. This process results in a liquid containing sugar called the wort that is filtered and re-fired at even a higher temperature.   During this second firing, hops and honey are added to the wort.
