PLACE:The Salinas de la Trinidad
 
Located at La Banya Point on the peninsula of Els Alfacs, which stands at the western edge of the Ebro River Delta (Tarragona Province), the salt pans are connected to dry land by the beach of El Trabucador.
 
The Trinidad Salt Pans, which are the only sea-salt pans in Catalonia, are set within the Ebro River Delta Nature Reserve.
 
The persons working at the facilities are the only ones with access to the salt pan facilities, which are totally free of industrial pollution for this reason.

On their 970 hectares, the Trinidad Salt Pans generate a unique ecological habitat of aquifers and wetlands with diverse degrees of salinity and microhabitats which are very rich in nutrients. Here, 85% of the world population of an endangered bird species, the Corsican Gull, nests and maintains its scant numbers. Likewise, this is the home of the largest colony of flamingos and the only place where these beautiful birds breed and develop in all Catalonia. Additionally, the Trinidad Salt Pans are the home of one of Spain’s most numerous populations of Anatidae and waders.
 
FLOR DE SAL, Flor del Delta 
Our Mediterranean Flor de Sal, Flor del Delta, is natural, fragile and delicate. Thanks to its marine origin, it is indeed 100% natural just as is certified by ECOCERT and it contains most of the minerals existing and dissolved in seawater as well as 80% of the trace elements required by the body. Especially because of its high content of magnesium chloride and potassium chloride, it accentuates and intensifies the taste of foods. 
 
In short, due to its richness in trace elements and minerals, it may be affirmed that Flor del Delta Flor de Sal is the natural ecological salt with the most complete nutrient content in the market.
 
HARVEST
 
The harvesting of Flor del Delta Flor de Sal is carried out in a completely manual way according to the traditional system of the French paludiers and the Portuguese marnotos.

The fragile crystals are collected daily with traditional utensils, the most important of which is the wooden pole called a lousse which has a screen at its bottom end to collect the Flor de Sal which is deposited on the pan surface.
 
Flor de Sal is the name received only by the thin layer of salt which is hand-harvested from the surface of the traditional salt pans, which are built especially for its production. What precipitates to the bottom is what is known as traditional salt.

 
SALT AND HEALTH
Salt is a prized additive in gastronomy, a taste intensifier and an indispensable natural mineral which regulates the water level in the body.
Flor del Delta Flor de Sal contains all the minerals of seawater in addition to a lower content of sodium chloride, which makes it highly recommendable for a healthy balanced diet.
It receives no subsequent processing or additives to enhance its colour or taste.
Flor del Delta has obtained the prestigious ECOCERT certificate as an ecological salt of superior quality.

1.Tomato salad with Natural Flor del Delta Flor de Sal
 
For this recipe we will be using Natural Flor del Delta Flor de Sal: the obvious choice for enhancing the natural flavour of the tomato.
Natural Flor del Delta Flor de Sal lets you add just the right touch to intensify the tomatoes’ natural qualities.
 
Ingredients:
- Raff, Cherry and Pear tomatoes
- Virgin olive oil
- Flor del Delta Flor de Sal
 
Preparation:
Cut the tomatoes into fine slices.
Dress with olive oil and Flor del Delta Flor de Sal just before serving. 
 
2.Tomato and onion salad with Flor del Delta Flor de Sal with Pepper
This is a typical example of a dressing of the Mediterranean diet.
 
Ingredients:
- Tomato
- Onion
- Arbequina olives
- Virgin olive oil
- Flor del Delta Flor de Sal with Pepper
 
Preparation:
Cut the tomato into thick slices and the onion into strips and place on a dish. Scatter with olives.
Before serving, dress with virgin olive oil and Flor del Delta Flor de Sal with Pepper that will fill the salad with flavour.
